Junior High Electives

Art - Mrs. Robinson


Students learn beginning through advanced skills in painting and drawing.  The students have the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums including pastels, chalk, oil paint, pen & ink, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media.  BCA's art students have the opportunity to enter their work in the ACSI Art Festival which is held annually.  

There is a $15.00 material fee. 



Culinary 101 - Introduction to Cooking - Chef Jeffrey MacRill

Students will learn kitchen safety, including the proper use of knives and other kitchen equipment. They will also learn the science behind cooking, how to combine and or substitute ingredients, herbs and spices. They will learn to prepare recipes both in class and at home. Students will also participate in our new Community Garden and grow fresh ingredients for their recipes. Students need a 1” three ring binder with plastic page protectors (for recipes) and an apron. There is a $25.00 supply fee for this class.


Along with being a credentialed teacher, Mr. MacRill is also a licensed chef. For several years, he served as Executive Chef for Amtrak.

Leadership - Mrs. Stiles


Learn the qualities of servant leadership as modeled by Christ. Promote school spirit by planning assemblies and assisting with special events such as Spirit Week, Red Ribbon Week, Leap Day, Pi Day, etc. Help with programs and seating for elementary musicals.

Puppetry - Mrs. Marriott-Nguyen


Students will learn the art of arm rod puppetry (similar to the Muppet puppets). There are three required performances in December: The Westminster Tree Lighting Ceremony, Seal Beach Christmas Parade, and a chapel performance.  The students will also learn a puppet skit to present at the ACSI Junior High Speech Meet in March.  This elective is held first semester only. Practices will be scheduled in February during school hours to rehearse for the speech meet.

There is a $10.00 material fee.

Study Hall - Staff


This elective is to give students a quiet study period to work on homework or school projects.

Tech 101- Mr. Harnish


Students will learn basic audio-visual support techniques by setting up for the worship team, running the sound board, projector, and lights. Tech team members will provide technical support for weekly chapels and elementary musicals. Outside class time is expected for the Christmas musical. This can be a semester OR full year commitment.(MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE 3 STUDENTS)


Worship Team - Mr. Schilhab


Students will learn to develop a lifestyle of worship both personally and corporately. Participation can be voice or instrument (you must have your own instrument, except for drums and piano). The Worship Team leads worship in chapel every Wednesday. Members must meet in the Fellowship Hall at 7:30 a.m. for warm-up and sound check.



Yearbook - Mrs. Marshall


Students will learn basic graphic design and layout using specific computer programs (Photoshop and Illustrator). This is an assignment driven class and students must be prepared to meet deadlines and complete work on time. This class is four days a week for the entire school year and may include time outside of class. Teacher approval is required. Open to 7th and 8th graders only.
